Lunchtime Lecture Series: Become an Ally to Autistic Colleagues with INTENT

Become an Ally to Autistic Colleagues with INTENT: INteractive Tool for Empathy in NeuroTypicals

Speaker: Andrew Begel, Associate Professor of Computer Science in the Software and Societal Systems Department in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University

Overview:

Autistic people at work are expected to communicate according to neurotypical expectations but often fail, incurring blame, retaliation, and discrimination.

Our INTENT project asks neurotypical people to learn to accommodate their autistic coworkers instead of the other way around. We built an interactive transformational video game for neurotypicals with three scenarios that show how autistic people may experience the workplace and portray actions that neurotypicals can take to be better allies to them.

Please reach out if you’d like to try out our training materials and measure their potential impact on inclusion towards autistic people in your workplace!

Cost: Free for CNDCC Members  /  $35 for Non-Members.

Members, RSVP at info@cndcc.org

*Zoom link will be shared with all registrants 48 hours prior to the event. Please mark your calendar.
